   Our Leather

We use only the finest natural leathers, specially tanned and groomed to create a soft, smooth product. Our top grain leather is naturally water repellent and with use, this quality top grain finish develops a unique rich character.

Leather tanning is a dye process and as such colors can vary from batch to batch. Black being the strongest color dye tends to show the least amount of change. Dye shifts will show up more in lighter colors...brown and tan. Also note that the texture of leather can vary from batch to batch, and it will show natural skin blemishes such as scars and marks where the skin was damaged.

CARING FOR YOUR LEATHER GOODS

Whether you've just invested in an attaché, briefcase, or other fine leather product, protect your investment by taking care of the leather.  Leather is a natural product, which can last for a very long time with proper care and treatment.  Leather has natural lubrication, but can become dry and crack during normal use.  Also, leather can spot from water and other liquid spills.

A new leather product should be treated immediately, before use, in order to protect it from permanent stains.  Always test a small inconspicuous piece of the leather before applying any product to your leather as some products may darken or alter the color of your leather item.

Leather Care Tips

  • Apply a good leather cream/conditioner to your product immediately after purchase.  Then, periodically, you should continue to apply the conditioner, generally 2-3 times per year.
  • Leather cream will provide a level of water resistance that will help to prevent discoloration of the leather.
  • In a dry environment, regularly condition the leather in order to prevent it from drying out and cracking.
  • Stuff empty bags with tissues to retain their shape.
  • Do not store leather goods in plastic bags or other nonporous covers.
  • Do not put an adhesive (sticky) label on any leather product.
  • Smooth or grain leather should be cleaned using a soft, dampened sponge or cloth.
  • Allow wet or damp leather to air-dry naturally away from any source of heat.   Do not use a hair-dryer.
  • Apply a little leather conditioner when the leather is nearly dry to restore flexibility. Follow this with a full conditioning treatment after the leather has completely air-dried.
  • To prevent mildew, protect leather from excessive humidity.
  • Do not use waxes, or silicone formulas or other leather preparations that impair the ability of the leather to breathe.
  • Never use caustic household chemicals to clean leather.
  • Avoid leather preparations that contain alcohol.
Use of mink oil or other animal fats will darken leather. Animal fat can also turn rancid, causing the stitching and leather to rot.
